Resident urges restoration of monthly AP and LGIP reports, alleges reduced financial transparency

Susan Corvello of the Claremont District used the public comment period to press the board for greater financial transparency. She told supervisors that monthly AP reports have not been provided since June, the LGIP investment report has not been shared since January, and that timely bank reconciliations have been flagged for the second consecutive year.
"I respectfully but strongly request that the board restore the monthly AP reports, resume the LGIP report, and provide confirmation that bank reconciliations are being completed on schedule," Corvello said. She acknowledged staffing changes in the finance area but said the county’s current financial contractor previously handled these reports and that quarterly summaries do not replace the detail monthly reporting provided.
During later remarks Supervisor Hardy said historically reconciliation was not done by the finance department and suggested there may be corrective actions under way; other board members thanked Corvello for raising the issue and noted staff and board would review possibilities for future reporting practices.
