Milton Ollerton, Planning & Zoning director, told the board on March 16 that Planning & Zoning is investigating a proposal from Madison AI for an "AI knowledge assistant" that would help review applications, compare them to county code, write staff reports and decision letters, and prepare presentations. Ollerton said "all information provided by the county would be quarantined and not open to the public" and that the annual subscription would cost $30,000. He said he will arrange a demonstration for the board and explore a potential agreement.
Ollerton also presented a separate agenda item about a fraudulent invoice circulating that purports to come from Madison County; he said the department will include a warning letter with applications to raise awareness. The items were entered into the minutes as informational and as items the department will follow up on.
