Pawnee Valley Community Hospital Administrator Melanie Urban and HaysMed CFO Michelle Beckner briefed the Pawnee County commissioners on May 4 about March 2026 operating statistics and the Administrator’s Report dated May 4. Michelle said volumes were down across inpatient, outpatient and clinic visits and that 'volume is down everywhere.' She told the board the hospital did not meet budget for the month but remained ahead for the fiscal year.
Michelle described increased 340B payments and said the hospital has removed some high‑cost medications from the 340B list because reimbursement rates do not cover costs. She also said she is working with HaysMed's legal team on a repayment plan; Commissioner Rein asked that those documents be sent to County Attorney Doug McNett and to Commissioner Rein for review. Melanie highlighted staffing and operations updates, including that Megan Donecker accepted a HaysMed Sleep and Neurodiagnostic Director position while remaining based at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, and that Imaging Director Julie Robben's team completed a successful survey.
