Pawnee County EMS Director Kara Lawrence told the board she had previously purchased a Stairchair with an earlier KRAF award and was awarded the KRAF grant again for 2026 to buy a second Stairchair for the county's ambulance fleet.
Lawrence said the grant is 75% federal/state funding with a 25% county match. She told commissioners the county's share would be $4,035.53 and that she expects the EMS budget — helped earlier in the year by funds for 800 radios — will cover the match without exceeding the annual budget. Commissioner Miller moved to approve acceptance of the KRAF grant and the 25% match to be paid from the EMS budget; Commissioner Burdett seconded and the motion passed 3–0.
The board recorded the motion and the funding commitment so EMS may complete the purchase and place a Stairchair on the second ambulance.
