County staff: short‑term rentals under committee review; ordinance package under legal review

Ms. Burke reported that the Board of Supervisors had tasked a committee to study short‑term rentals and that the committee met over the past year and issued recommendations. Summit provided draft ordinance language and outside counsel has drafted a regulatory package; Ms. Burke said the county is still processing that material internally and coordinating with the Commissioner of the Revenue’s office on taxation and administration.
Ms. Burke cautioned that policy decisions remain to be made by the Board of Supervisors and that the county is not planning immediate implementation. "We are still at the beginning stages of this process... I don't want anyone who's listening at home to get the impression that this is going to be implemented, like, next month," she said, adding that the county hopes for a pre‑summer implementation timeline if policy decisions are reached.
