Superintendent Trip Goodall told the board the district is launching an Equity Committee — which he described as the 'Civic Voice Committee' — and is working with the education service district to get it started. "We are required by law to have this," Trip said, adding that Courtney Conant is active in organizing the effort.
Trip also outlined a timeline for a new cell-phone policy: the board should have a policy in place by October and the policy will be in practice by January. He said administrators Bev Scott and Dionne Marshall have led the work on this policy since last year.
On student involvement, Trip said the district will have a student representative from Warrenton High School by October and hopes to expand student voice to middle and grade schools as well. He framed these items as part of aligning district practices and improving instruction and discipline.
