County executive highlights defense contracts, cruise visits and workforce-board review

At reports of county officials, Miss Bogle updated the council on several economic-development items she and Mayor Devlin took to a Defense and Innovation Summit in Carlisle, noting the region has “hundreds of millions of dollars of defense contracts” and naming Erie Forged and Steel as holding about $400,000,000 in defense work.
She announced Victory Cruise Lines will bring two ship calls to the port starting in summer 2028 (two trips of roughly 190 passengers each) and emphasized there is no taxpayer cost for those visits: "There's no cost to the taxpayers for this. They're gonna use the facility that was already built, and every expense will be paid for by, Victory."
Bogle also said she is preparing a proposal to withdraw Erie County from the multi-county workforce development board and take that function to the state, promising to brief the council in the coming weeks and requesting members’ public and private support.
