Kane County raises WUI fee to $500, revises Kanab Center policy

Kane County commissioners on Jan. 27 adopted Resolution R 2026-1, updating the county's 2026 Schedule of Fees and revising policies for the Kanab Center. The commission voted unanimously to increase the Wildland‑Urban Interface (WUI) initial permit fee from $225 to $500 and approved policy edits affecting use of the Kanab Center.
Commissioner Celeste Meyeres moved to adopt the resolution, and the motion carried with Chair Gwen Brown and Commissioner Patty Kubeja joining in the unanimous vote. Meyeres’ motion specified that “the WUI fee will be increased from $225 to $500 for the initial permit” and that an additional $300 fee would apply if an Accessory Dwelling Unit is built and a Certificate of Occupancy is issued.
County staff presented the fee and policy changes as updates to align fee levels with administrative costs and to clarify Kanab Center operations; commissioners did not propose further amendments at the meeting. The resolution was adopted as R 2026-1 and will govern the county's fee schedule and Kanab Center policy until changed by future action.
