Board directs VDOT review of Deltaville golf-cart ordinance request

Supervisor Randy Crittenden presented a resident petition requesting the county consider an ordinance to allow golf carts on Lovers Lane and adjoining feeder streets in the Deltaville area. Crittenden said residents understand equipment requirements such as slow-moving vehicle signage and age limits for operators, and that golf carts would not be permitted on Route 33 because of the higher posted speed.
County staff member Mr. Kretz said he prepared a map and submitted it to VDOT for initial review and noted VDOT now requires updated drawings showing sign locations, existing speed limit signs, and possible documentation on road width; the county would be responsible for purchasing, installing, and maintaining signage in the VDOT right-of-way unless residents agree to pay. The board voted unanimously to direct Mr. Kretz to submit the application to VDOT for review.
