Mr. Gentry proposed conducting desk reviews of property assessments every other year to help prevent large real estate tax changes between reassessment cycles and improve revenue predictability; he said biennial desk reviews would make assessment values more closely reflect market conditions.
The Board and staff also discussed the proposed budget schedule and the possibility of rescheduling the March 5 budget work session because of pending state budget information. Mr. Walker said a draft budget meeting calendar would be presented on March 3 and reminded the Board the county is required to provide the school division an approved budget by May 15. After discussion, the Board agreed to move the March 5 budget work session to a later date in March to allow for updated state figures and more informed decisions.
