Residents urge Scott County to abate condemned properties on 141st Street

Another neighborhood resident, Janine Belderman, said the problems at the properties have persisted for years and include a lack of working sewer, no electricity and unsanitary conditions in units she described as mobile homes or trailers. John Lindbergh said rodents and a deteriorating metal shed roof present a safety hazard for nearby children: "...that thing could fly off and hit the neighbor's home."
Board members did not take immediate formal action during public comment; the Chair explained the board's role as listeners during comment and indicated staff follow-up was the usual next step. Residents said they have contacted planning and development staff (they named a staff member, Greg) and the county admin office but have had difficulty getting consistent responses.
The residents asked the board to consider formal nuisance-abatement steps, removal of structures and assessing cleanup costs to property owners. The board's next procedural step or staff assignment on this complaint was not specified in the transcript.
