Daniel Martinez (speaker 14), a Northlake PD detective and president of the Northlake Police Association, briefed the council about the association’s growth and planned outreach. Martinez said the association recently added three members, bringing membership to 23, and has entered a partnership with a California fundraising company, NEP, to build a website and send donation mailers.
Martinez said funds raised will be used to support members in emergencies — for example to provide clothing, short‑term lodging or meals during on‑the‑job injuries — and to provide condolences and small support in the event of a fallen officer or firefighter. He listed three charity partners to be linked on the association website (Crimes Against Children of North Texas, Denton County Friends of the Family, and Special Olympics) and said the association was not asking the town for donations at the meeting.
Council thanked Martinez for the informational update and asked that staff and the association share the mailer language with councilors in advance; Martinez said a copy of the mailer would be emailed to council by the end of the next business day.
