Fire chief reports rising hours; Board approves youth intern program review and hires new firefighter after closed session

Fire Chief Troy Madland told the Board the department responded to 10 calls in April (132.5 hours) and 12 calls in May (83 hours). Year-to-date the department has logged 595.5 hours compared with 427.5 hours at the same point last year. Madland said the tender's clutch needs replacement and he will provide cost estimates for Board consideration.
Jordan Andres, Firefighter and EMS Chief, presented materials for a Youth Intern Program with a minimum age of 14; the Board requested Clerk/Treasurer Michelle Klein forward the waiver and consent forms to the Village Attorney for review. Following a closed session held under Wis. Stat. § 19.85(1)(c) to consider personnel matters, the Board reconvened and unanimously approved hiring a new firefighter.
