Lyndon Station to rewrite ATV/UTV ordinance to reflect June 1 state law changes

Police Chief Jeremy Bonikowske updated the Board on recent state law changes for all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and utility terrain vehicles (UTVs) that took effect June 1, 2026. Because the state statute now opens county roads to ATV/UTV traffic (with specific exclusions), the village ordinance must be amended to reflect that the village will enforce the new state rules rather than listing every permissible street.
Chief Bonikowske said the village no longer needs to enumerate every road in the ordinance; he will draft a revised ordinance and Clerk/Treasurer Michelle Klein will place it on the next meeting agenda for formal consideration and approval.
