Burke County accepts $1.63 million STRAP grant for stream rehabilitation projects

Branch said prior STRAP rounds (2022, 2024) funded smaller projects; this round identifies 19 project sites, many prompted by landowner requests, and includes a projected closeout timeline of October 2028.
Commissioners reviewed the scope and accepted the grant alongside a budget amendment authorizing the funds; the motion to adopt budget amendment No. 2 passed unanimously. Branch said the funding covers property acquisition, engineering, construction and associated project management tasks for prioritized stream sites.
