Staff member presented results of a parent survey the district sent to families, saying 252 parents responded and ranked athletics, extracurricular activities and family time among top considerations for any bell-time change. "A lot of families and parents were making decisions, based on athletics," the staff member said.
The staff member outlined two options. Under the status-quo schedule, junior high and high school 1st period would start at 08:05 with afternoon dismissal around 15:15. The staff member also described a previously circulated compromise that would shift junior high and high school start times to 08:30. A board member briefly interjected during the discussion but did not move a formal motion during the segment.
The presentation noted that only the high school would be affected by a start-time change under the proposals discussed and that the district will continue collecting input before any formal action.
