Business manager warns of possible mid-biennium ODE funding cuts of up to 5%

Business Manager Mike Moha presented the finance report at the Nov. 12 meeting and told the board that district spending so far is on target but that he is monitoring possible state-level reductions. Moha said ODE is “coming up with some significant changes” and that the district could face mid-biennium cuts in a range he described as about 0.5% to 5%.
Moha told the board the situation "is not good news" and that the district will start discussions with administrators about potential belt-tightening if cuts materialize. He recommended advocacy to the Legislature to consider using rainy-day funds; he noted that using those funds would require a two-thirds legislative vote. The minutes also note a scheduled review of financial records by Director Mark Simonsen (the record shows the review occurred on 11/13/25).
