Conservation Fund holds $85,000; commission to request $7,500 LUCT transfer

At the April 13 meeting, Commissioner Charlie Townsend delivered the financial report: year-to-date operating expenditures stood at $1,206.87 of a $7,388 budget, and the Conservation Fund balance was approximately $85,024 with fund earnings around $766 (a 3.63% return). Charlie said the Conservation Fund is funded primarily by Land Use Change Tax (LUCT) revenue and donations and added, “The Conservation Fund does not lapse; its monies stay in the Fund year after year.”
Commissioners confirmed they will submit a formal written request to the town Finance Department to transfer the 2025 LUCT allocation of $7,500 into the Conservation Fund. The minutes note that unused operating budget returns to the general fund while the Conservation Fund balance carries over year to year.
