Council and staff highlight training and U.S. Forest Service interest in Westfir’s mobile water-tank model

The Chair said regional partners, including the U.S. Forest Service, have been interested in Westfir’s hybrid approach to modified fire prevention and have asked the city to showcase the trailers and tanks at prescribed-burn sites. "There has been requests for fire, for Westford to bring fire tanks to share the concept with property owners of larger prescribed burn areas," the Chair said (transcript spelling corrected to Westfir).
Councilors agreed a demonstration or special meeting to operate the new equipment would help staff and council become familiar with deployment and handling. The Chair also noted that LRAPA-regulated burn windows and the city’s permit schedule will determine when staged operations and demonstrations can occur.
