Superintendent Wayne updated the board on labor negotiations: the district received notice from the CEA's attorney that teachers intend to strike on June 3 at 6:00 AM. "On Monday afternoon, we were informed by our CEA of their intent ... that they are intending to strike on June 3 at 6AM," he said.
Wayne said the district has requested and accepted a joint mediation session with the Employment Relations Board for Friday, May 30, and that the district has surveyed staff to determine who would work on a strike day while it develops contingency plans to keep some buildings open and provide key services. The superintendent said staff have a legal window to respond to the survey and that district leadership will report back to the board after it receives responses. Board members asked clarifying questions about calendar impacts and student activities if a strike occurs.
