Commission backs renewal of Save Our Indian River Lagoon interlocal agreement if November referendum passes

Terri Breeden of Brevard County Natural Resources Management described Brevard County Ordinance 2026-06 and the November 2026 referendum that would renew the surtax used to fund lagoon work. Commissioner Calenda moved that the Commission agree to renew the interlocal agreement if the November referendum passes; Commissioner Anderson seconded. The motion passed unanimously, 6-0.
The vote commits the town to execute an interlocal agreement should county-wide voters approve the surtax renewal. The Commission did not adopt any funding appropriations during the meeting; the action is contingent on the outcome of the county referendum.
