Chuck Rue, representing the local Masonic Lodge, used the public-comment period to ask the council to address nearby properties that he said are untidy and create a poor impression when the lodge hosts visiting dignitaries. "They are having dignitaries come to town and would like things to look nice for them," Rue said, and the transcript lists specific concerns including mattresses, rugs and a grill that are "strewn about."
Rue also raised an annual complaint about a berry tree that drops fruit on sidewalks used by lodge attendees and visitors to the post office, saying it "makes a mess for people who attend the lodge and the post office." Council did not announce an immediate enforcement action in the meeting transcript; Administrator Aaron Flora later noted that violation letters would be sent to three properties in the village, which may be the vehicle for follow-up enforcement.
