Gettysburg administrator flags possible broken storm pipe, $1.3M street estimate and water-plant needs

Village Administrator Aaron Flora reported several infrastructure items to the Gettysburg Village Council at its Jan. 8 meeting. Flora said crews dug 7–8 feet at sinkholes by Parkman's and observed conditions consistent with possible broken clay storm drain pipes; he plans to run an in-line camera in spring to assess the line. He also said chlorine was low at the water plant and the village "may have to purchase a new chlorinator." Flora told council that Christmas lights will be taken down next week and that all the new speed signs are installed.
Flora said he met with Craig Knapke and that rough estimates for street work could be about $1.3 million. Council members asked about water-tower inspections; Flora said he would look into inspection timing and costs. Council also expressed interest in placing dumpsters in May for a spring cleanup event.
