District to implement strict no-cell-phone rule during instructional time, board hears

At the Aug. 19 meeting district administrator Cliff Fossitt told trustees the district will implement a new cell phone policy for the coming school year that restricts use during class time.
Fossitt told the board that there will be "no cell phone use during instructional time," and he also used his report to recognize custodial and grounds staff for building upkeep and to summarize summer school credit-recovery results, which he described as having a mid-80% success rate. He noted that scheduling changes for high school students were underway.
The policy recognition was presented as part of the routine administrative reports; the minutes do not record debate or a formal vote to adopt the policy at this meeting, only the administrator’s statement that the policy will be implemented.
