Power fault on Oct. 14 restored; PP&L to adjust settings at borough substation

Council heard a report from Council member Kyle Burak about a brief power outage on Monday, Oct. 14 caused by a fault at the PP&L substation on Gino Merli Drive. Blakely's electricians switched to the borough's backup feed and "most power was restored within approximately 25 minutes," Burak said.
PP&L provided a Method of Supply Analysis and has agreed to adjust its protection settings to stop overreach into Blakely's protection scheme; the cost of the adjustment is estimated at $10,000 and American Municipal Power has agreed to cover that expense. Council recorded the report and accepted the information for the meeting minutes.
Council did not vote on funding because AMP agreed to cover the adjustment; the borough will coordinate with PP&L and AMP on implementation.
