Blakely Borough Council on Dec. 16 approved a package of organizational resolutions that set tax and fee rules, meeting schedules and administrative appointments for 2025. Resolution 1-2025 set the realty transfer tax at one-half of one percent and the wage tax at one-half of one percent; Resolution 4-2025 reimposed the refuse/garbage fee at $200 for 2025 and specified sticker and pickup charges: large furniture sticker $5, mattress pickup $10, box springs $5, and a required plastic disposal bag available for $8 (paper lawn bags $0.75). The motions carried on unanimous voice votes.
Council also scheduled pension board meetings on even-numbered months, reappointed Northeast Inspection Consultants as construction inspectors, and confirmed Christopher R. Paone for multiple administrative roles. The package of Resolutions 1–14 was presented by the borough attorney and approved after motions by council members; no roll-call dissents were recorded. Mayor Jeanette Acciare-Mariani read her report and “wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,” a remark echoed at the close of the meeting.
