The Yamhill Carlton SD 1 board approved its 2025'1/26 school-fee schedule after administration presented several adjustments designed to offset material and activity costs. Administration said the high-school activity/registration fee will be $35 and the high-school athletic participation fee will increase by $50 (from $125 to $175); the district also discussed adjusted reduced/free-lunch eligible tiers and a family cap.
Staff explained they will use a district fee-reduction form tied to federal guidelines (rather than requiring the federal free/reduced meal application in all cases) and that a Google form will be available for families seeking reductions. The board discussed a proposed $100-per-season family pass (covering up to six family members at home games) and noted some districts already operate similar passes.
The administration also described a device plan: intermediate-school students (grades 6'7) will check out Chromebooks each day; high-school students will be issued Chromebooks for the year. Board members asked whether families may opt out if students have a home device; staff said students will need a device during school hours but accommodations can be made and locker/charging-station options are possible. The motion to approve the fees as presented carried by voice vote.
