Resident urges sidewalk and lighting at Wildlife Park after state denies grant

During public comment on March 24, resident Gayle Cluff told the council that the road into the Wildlife Park 'takes up the entire width of the hill,' forcing people to walk in the roadway. 'A sidewalk should be installed next to the road,' he said, and he also requested that a ditch by his house be filled and lighting in the park improved.
Council later considered a prior decision to submit a grant application for the Wildlife Park Improvement Project that would have required a city match of $19,142. City grant author Larry Edwards said the state did not approve the grant application and that he might appeal the state's decision. Councilmember Dennis W. Alldredge said the city can use RAP tax funds to address the park needs even without the state grant.
