Winter Lakes Elementary principal highlights campus routines, family events and vocational experiences

"I am addressing you tonight as the principal of Winter Lakes Elementary, not the curriculum director," the principal told the board as she opened the school's presentation, describing morning routines (gym gathering and a choral pledge at 8:21 a.m.), campus projects and family events.
She described classroom activities from K–5 (wooly-bear science projects, chalk art and a gallery walk) and highlighted remote-learning supports for at-home students, including scheduled Google-Meet help sessions and individualized presentation feedback. The presentation also noted a vocational partnership with a local restaurant for a food-handler class: 11 students took the class last year and 10 obtained Oregon food-handler cards, and enrollment for this year is larger. The school introduced student volunteers and staff (including an EA and design support from Cheryl Johnson) and invited board members to campus events in October.
