Council approves City Manager employment agreement; attorney says contract streamlined

The Alliance City Council voted 5-0 on March 3 to approve the City Manager Employment Agreement for J.D. Cox. The motion to approve was made by Mayor McGhehey and seconded by Councilman Turman.
Vice Mayor Mashburn asked why the contract term was shorter than that of the previous manager, Seth Sorensen. City Attorney Selzer responded that the current agreement is "more streamlined" and that the earlier contract contained redundant language; he said the important terms are already implied within the current agreement. Mayor McGhehey and council members agreed the agreement addressed necessary items and approved the motion. The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
