Water report: August usage higher than last year, wastewater volumes down

Water and wastewater staff reported August 2025 totals to the council: water use was 1,503,500 gallons compared with 1,258,000 gallons last year (roughly a 20 percent increase), an average of about 48,500 gallons per day. Wastewater flows totaled 95,835 gallons versus 111,366 gallons in the previous year, averaging roughly 3,091 gallons per day. The presenter said both treatment plants are operating normally.
Staff said they have a vacuum setup to clean meters and will begin replacing some aging meters; they also noted planned review meetings with the wastewater facilities plan consultant and an insurance appraiser site visit scheduled for mid‑September. Councilors thanked staff and noted they would review the draft wastewater facilities plan in an upcoming meeting.
