Veneta awards $560,000 public-works contract to River Bend Construction

The City authorized a contract award to River Bend Construction for public-works work not to exceed $560,000 and approved an additional $25,000 to purchase items to be installed by the contractor. The motion passed unanimously and the City Administrator will execute the contract after the appeals period.
Public Works Director Kyle Schauer explained Ordell Construction, the Phase 1 contractor, submitted a mid-range bid and while coordination with a contractor already on site could have been easier, the projects are separate and can proceed with both contractors present. "The Ordell proposal bid came in at the mid-range and while it would have been easier for coordination, since Ordell was already on-site, each project is separate and could be done with both contractors on-site," Schauer said. Council moved to award the contract to River Bend Construction and authorized the City Administrator to finalize contract documents after the appeals timeline expires.
