The Veneta City Council on April 13 authorized staff to apply for a grant to develop Bolton Hills Sports Complex, adopting Resolution No. 1474 unanimously. Community Development Director Kevin Urban described the proposed project and funding approach, and staff will pursue appropriate grant sources including Travel Oregon for sports-related tourism if the project scope and minimum funding thresholds are met.
Kevin Urban said the proposal could include "a new 24 by 40-foot support building and demolition of the 24 by 80-foot structure currently on site." Public Works Director Kyle Schauer clarified staff intend to demolish the shop structure while retaining a taller building that could be repurposed as a covered area. Council approved the grant-authorization resolution and staff will proceed to prepare the application materials.
