The council read and approved two proclamations. Mayor Brian G. Monti proclaimed September as National Service Dog Month, praised the human‑canine bond and invited a guest representing Rocky Mountain Battle Buddies to describe local service‑dog efforts.
"We do hereby proclaim the month of September as National Service Dog Month and encourage all residents to celebrate service dogs," Mayor Monti said as he presented the proclamation. A guest identified as Picciotta introduced Briar, a service dog placed with veterans, and thanked the council.
Later the council presented a proclamation recognizing Live United Month. Marcy Pritz of United Way of Denton County thanked the mayor and council, said she lives in Northlake and described United Way's countywide role in addressing mental health, food security and economic mobility. "We served 54,000 with our network last year," Pritz said, and she urged continued local support for United Way's efforts.
Council members and the mayor encouraged residents to learn about both initiatives and to respect service‑dog access and volunteer efforts in the community.
