Portal Park visitation up; council hears maintenance and electrical upgrade needs

Bill, who manages park maintenance, said the park has seen steady interest from locals and visitors, and that RTMP funds and local donations helped underwrite prizes and programming. He flagged an electrical issue in the large pavilion where a 20‑amp breaker and outlet have failed during events and recommended upgrading to a 30‑amp breaker to handle seasonal decorations and vendor equipment. "I believe it's a 20 amp breaker. It'd be nice to up that to a 30 amp breaker," he said.
Council asked staff to obtain quotes (GMD Electric was mentioned) and to prioritize repairs before the November 29 holiday decorating event. Staff also discussed options for counting visitors (guest books or short-term counters) for future planning.
