Council considered a request from Joan and Jennifer O'Neill for relief after an unattended toilet leak produced excess water usage. Staff reported the problem was fixed and subsequent usage returned to normal.
A staff member explained the city's usual practice of forgiving 50% of accidental overage costs in cases like this. The council moved to apply that policy and approved a $97.54 forgiveness for the O'Neills. "So I would like to make a motion that the city council make a recommendation to allow the 50% refund of coverage for this incident... in the amount of $97.54," the mayor said when moving the item.
The motion passed unanimously, and staff will apply the credit per the city's billing procedures.
