Council adopts UAMPS pooling agreement to shore up power supply

Fillmore City Council voted unanimously on Feb. 10 to adopt Resolution 26-02, approving an amended pooling agreement with the Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS). The council heard that the amended pool adds an EDAM (Extended Day Ahead Market) forecasting program designed to give members a year-ahead forecast to help manage baseload requirements as renewable energy resources are paired with the grid.
Councilmember Michael B. Winget moved to adopt the resolution and Councilmember Eugene R. Larsen seconded. The roll-call vote recorded Councilmembers Stevens, Larsen, Winget and Rausch as voting yes, and the motion carried. The minutes state the pooling arrangement helps cities short on power draw from the pool and allows cities that supply excess power to benefit financially from sales.
