Council tables decision on temporary backup water operator, asks for more review

“He's willing to do the apprenticeship program and assist our city with all of our reports,” Clements said, describing Gardner’s certifications and local residence. Other council members said they wanted Gardner to attend a work session so councilors could ask questions before making a hiring or contracting decision; the mayor said the state had given the city a year to secure a replacement and that Goshen officials had already begun assisting with sampling.
Council members agreed to table the item for a detailed discussion at the next work meeting and directed staff to coordinate attendance and additional information for council review.
