County prothonotary details 'Hope Card' and online PFA filing to help domestic violence survivors

Mr. Marlier, Montgomery County Prothonotary, told the Board the Prothonotary’s Office records civil court filings including Protection From Abuse (PFA) documents and has launched two initiatives to assist survivors. "The Hope Card Program has all the final protection information on a card with resources for the survivor," he said, adding that a compact card can be presented to law enforcement to provide officers with needed protection details.
Mr. Marlier also described an online process to electronically file the 15‑page PFA packet to speed processing. Chief Robert Evans said Douglass Township police are connected to the web‑based system for PFA filings. The Board thanked Mr. Marlier for the presentation. The programs aim to streamline survivor access to protections and to make key information immediately available to responding officers.
