City update: electric aggregation program saved residents about $3.2 million since 2023

Aaron (speaker 18), the Treebell Energy representative, gave an update on Lima's electric aggregation initiative that voters approved in 2022 and the city launched in 2023. He said the program has yielded about $3.2 million in cumulative savings for participants since inception, with program-year-1 savings near $650,000 (roughly $110 per participant on average). "Program year 2 is going to be at 0.09998," Aaron said, noting that while the rate is slightly higher than program year 1, it remains below the utility's price-to-compare.
Aaron explained the three-year contract structure, described a capacity charge component that may change annually, and confirmed Archer Energy (an Ohio-based supplier) will remain the supplier for the three-year term. He said letters about the new program year will be mailed May 11 and an opt-out window runs through June 1; residents may enter or exit the program at any time without penalty. Councilors asked about residents already signed with a different supplier and requested the presentation slides; Aaron said customers already on another supplier would not receive the mailing and that billing and delivery remain with AEP Ohio.
