Storms left fields flooded; administration outlines recovery, staffing and e-bike guidance

Administrator Peter Them told council crews worked late into the night during recent storms and that Parks Supervisor Todd Ward and crews assisted with recovery; he said fields remain flooded and cleanup will wait until waters recede. "All fields are flooded and will have to wait awhile for water to recede and proceed with that cleanup," Them said. He added resurfacing bids will open April 24 and that the Main Street Project has experienced delays because of flood debris.
Police Chief Troy Weaver addressed public questions about e-bikes, saying Lexington's restrictions are based on rules for mobility scooters, wheelchairs and electric scooters and mirror regulations in other jurisdictions; he said e-bikes are currently addressed and accepted on the bike trail. Chief Weaver also said he believes the FLOCK contract runs through April 2027 but declined to discuss operational details in open council session. Staffing notes included that the Water/Sewer department is seeking a Class III operator and that the Street Department is hiring summer help.
