"The change involves the outlying structures and not the main building," Mr. Scott Them said during the hearing. Law Director John Studenmund described the requested zoning — a change from Light Industrial to Transitional — as creating a buffer between the central business district and Mill Street industrial zoning.
Mayor Bob Jarvis closed the public hearing at 7:38 p.m. and the council scheduled the first reading of the zoning change for the Sept. 15 council session and a second reading for Oct. 6. No public objections were recorded during the hearing.
The zoning designation discussion focused on land‑use compatibility rather than specific building permits; the council did not take a vote on the change at the Sept. 2 meeting. If approved at subsequent readings, the change would allow the owner to proceed with conversion of the identified outlying structures.
