Teresea Coleman of 17 Devon Road asked the Village Council whether recreational vehicles parked at residents’ houses are permitted under current zoning rules. Coleman said she pays taxes and wants clarity on her rights.
Administrator Peter Them replied, “currently, because the trailer is parked in the backyard it is permitted.” Law Director John Studenmund added the village is updating its zoning laws to address recreational vehicles and expects the revisions to be completed in approximately three months; he said staff will advise Ms. Coleman when the status changes.
Council did not take formal action during the meeting beyond directing staff to continue the zoning update work. The exchange occurred during the Communications from Citizens portion of the agenda, and the transcript records that officials intend to notify the resident when the ordinance language is ready.
