"When a student dedicates 5 years to a program, the expectation is not a guaranteed outcome, but it is a fair and accountable process," Barber said, adding two questions for the district: (1) will the district confirm the selection process fully aligns with district policy and that criteria were clearly defined and communicated in advance; and (2) if concerns exist about transparency or consistency, what remedies will be provided. He also asked whether the student's 504 accommodations were considered in the tryout process.
