Calhoun County ISD board adopts 2026–27 instructional calendar after staff vote
Summary
The Calhoun County Independent School District board on Feb. 23 adopted the 2026–2027 instructional calendar recommended by administration after staff voting favored Calendar B (140 votes) over Calendar A (85 votes). The measure passed unanimously.
Board Secretary Dana Dworaczyk moved to adopt the recommended 2026–2027 instructional calendar and Trustee Michael Williams seconded the motion; the board approved it unanimously, 6–0. The board packet shows four candidate calendars developed by the District Calendar Committee and administrators to comply with current legislation and CCISD’s District of Innovation; staff voting produced 140 votes for Calendar B and 85 for Calendar A.
Superintendent Evan Cardwell presented the process that led to the recommendation, noting the calendars were reviewed by the District Educational Improvement Advisory Committee (DEIAC) before district employees voted. The board took no additional amendments when it approved the calendar. The action was recorded in the official minutes as carried 6–0.
