MISD launches digital-safety and responsible-use task force to guide classroom tech and AI

The task force’s four priorities are student safety and well‑being; instruction and best practices; artificial intelligence policy and guidance; and education and communication for families and staff. The presenter said the team will launch guidelines at an upcoming principals’ leadership summit, follow up with professional learning for staff, and communicate expectations to parents (noting currently about one-third of parents have used district monitoring tools). Trustees expressed support, discussed classroom-screen time tradeoffs for younger students, and emphasized the district’s obligation to balance digital literacy requirements (including state testing) with measured instructional use.
