Jeff Banner, executive director for school leadership presenting for safety and security, reported that the Texas School Safety Center recently conducted an intruder-detection audit at one or more MISD campuses under state directive intended to improve campus safety. Banner said the audit tests whether a campus is accessible to unauthorized individuals and provides an opportunity to identify security improvements, such as ensuring exterior doors remain locked.
Banner told trustees that, because detailed findings could compromise campus security, specific audit results will not be released to the broader public; instead, the district will review details in executive session and with the safety-and-security committee to plan mitigation and training. He said the audit and state support are part of continuing efforts to strengthen safety and staff training across the district.
