Murphy honors student artwork: winners announced for 13th annual recycled truck contest

The Murphy City Council and Keep Murphy Beautiful recognized winners of the city's 13th annual recycled truck art contest during the April 7 meeting.
A Keep Murphy Beautiful representative (S4) said 39 students from kindergarten through 10th grade submitted artwork and thanked Republic Services and volunteer judges from the Parks & Recreation and Keep Murphy Beautiful boards. "We had some really incredible pieces this year," the presenter said, and explained that first‑place artwork will be displayed on the Republic recycle truck for one year while second‑place pieces will be printed on vinyl decals and installed near pavilions in city parks.
Mayor (S1) called winners by grade groups and invited families to a reception and photos next to the truck; he then recessed council so attendees could take photographs and enjoy refreshments.
The council said the new park decal installations are part of an initiative to make youth art more visible across Murphy parks.
