Council hears updates on sewer design, airport runway limits, library fundraising and housing interest

Councilmember Larsen reported that the airport runway is now rated for a maximum of 30,000 pounds and that full reconstruction is not expected until 2030; interim crack sealing was recommended to maintain operations. Mayor Curt Hare said the city has raised $500,000 toward the library expansion and is pursuing an additional $100,000 from the Eccles Foundation; the council approved advertising for bids for the architectural and engineering phase. The mayor also approved a well siting study in anticipation of needing the second well full time and noted interest from Cocoon Homes to build quality tiny homes to provide low-cost housing.
