Regents approve Service Animal and Emotional Support Animal policies

At its Jan. 5 meeting, the Redlands Community College Board of Regents approved two new policies governing animals on campus. President Jena Marr asked the board to vote on Policy 523 (Service Animal); Regent Lori Burns moved to approve and Regent Janie Thompson seconded. The motion passed with votes from Regents Thompson, Von Tungeln, Burns, Cole, Cox and Murray and no opposing votes.
The board then considered Policy 524 (Emotional Support Animal). Dr. David Von Tungeln moved to approve the emotional support animal policy, seconded by Regent Dale Cox. The motion passed unanimously with the same recorded 'yes' votes. The minutes do not record policy text or operational details; the approvals are recorded only as motions and recorded votes.
